Thank You with a Flourish

I can see I need some practice on taking pictures outside - I got the shadow of the bow in the front of the card - hasn't digital made a world of difference in taking pictures - I might even have pictures of my children if I had digital - but that was an unexplored world when they were young. Technology sure has evolved and it keeps evolving. My daughter had a small Canon Powershot with her last week end - sure liked the size - maybe my next digital - of course - I would feel guilty getting a new one if my old one still worked fine. Mother's guilt - I guess you never get over that.
I have brownies in the oven baking - Betty Crocker frosted brownies - the best mix around and then I doctor it - today instead of water - I used coffee and threw in some carmel and chocolate chips. Yummy - I take the brownies to the neighbors - each family gets half the pan. They love it.
Today's card is based on the sketch at Card Positioning System. It was a fun sketch - and I knew I had the best paper to use with it. Looking at the photo - I need some more glue on the strip on the strip on the inside. Off to find
Supplies
Patterned paper - Kaiser Scrapbooking (Waterberry Collection) the base of the card is patterned paper that had that scalloped frame on it - double sided paper - so the inside is beautiful also - the flowers were fussy cut from one sheet of paper
Ribbon - Lasting Impressions
Pearl Swirls - Prima
Pearl Brads - Paper Studio
Rub On - Karen Foster Design
Pop Dots by All Night Media
Looking at the photo - I need some more glue on the strip on the inside of the card. Off to find some glue to slip underneath the strip.
I need to go finish mowing my lawn and maybe pull some weeds. We will see how much energy I have. Everyone enjoy your Sunday - do I have to go back to work tomorrow???

Laid and Back and Quiet Saturday

Had a nice somewhat quiet Saturday - needed that - I did take the little neighbor girl shopping for her birthday - she helped me pick out some new tops - she decided I needed a pink top so we got a pink top - and then we went to Toys R Us - she had her birthday money from me and also brought some other birthday money so she had a good time shopping - and she got a balloon and crown when we left. We then went out to lunch where she they sang to her and she got 3 more baloons and an ice cream sundae. She was happy.
Today's card was based on a sketch at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge site. I don't often get to do these - but I had this image already colored waiting to be made into a card. Penny Black has the cutest images and the most wonderful stickers - I actually have a card set made with some of her stickers coming out in the next issue of Cardmaker magazine. Make sure you check it out. I thought they turned out rather nicely.
Stamp - Penny Black - colored with Copics

Are We There Yet???

Don't you remember that little "whine" when you were traveling - either yourself doing it or your kids - heck - as an adult I am sure I have said it a few times or at least thought about it. This is the last retirement card given to my boss today - it was his last day. It wasn't too bad of a day - I was in the office early and beat him in so I grabbed a couple sheets of paper and drew two smiley faces - one smiling - Him and the other smiley face was frowning - that was the staff. He said it made him laugh when it came in and started the day on a very positive note. He and my other boss went out to lunch and gee when they got there - we were all waiting for them. That was a nice surprise also. Happy trails to you - .........
The card is large - 6 x 9
the paper from Reminisce made the card - and then I came up with the quote on the inside - finished both sides of the inside so we could all wish him luck. I know he appreciated his cards.
Everyone have a wonderful evening - and a great week end. I am looking forward to a somewhat laid back week end.

Graduation

Graduation - a time for a new beginning - scary, exciting, hopeful. If you are coming out of college - maybe the payment of debt - hoping there is a job for you that will pay big bucks - to help you along the way. This card is for a man who went back to school - when he saw his wife walk the stage at her graduation - he thought I could do this - and he did it and he did it well. Now hopefully there is a wonderful job for him. Congrats Allan - I am very proud of you. Allan was a mechanic in his former life so he will appreciate this truck card.
The design of the card is based on the Cupcake challenge from Taylored Expressions - a fun sketch each Friday - no cupcake in this card.
Same stamp as yesterday and paper.
Everyone have a good evening. The last retirement card is made.

Need a Pick Up

And here you thought I might have something for sale or I was turning into a floozy. Neither one is true.
Gee I really can't think of much to say - this time of the year at work - kinda zaps everything out of me - so nothing fun to talk about tonight.
The card I am featuring tonight is another retirement card for my boss - the next to last one - I suppose I should get busy and finish the last one - we need it on Friday. He had a silly grin on his face when he walked by me and I knew he had gotten the card - I asked him if he was looking for a pick up.
The design is based on the sketch from Card Patterns - a new sketch every Saturday.
Stamp Cornish Heritage Farms - GM Series - 1955 GMC Truck
went the easy route and just stamped it and did not color - I tried coloring one but it was not very nice - so went the simple route
Paper - Basic Grey
Brads - Paper Studio
Letters - American Crafts
White trim - recycled plastic wrap from a package
Everyone have a wonderful evening - come back and see the truck in another card - a graduation card.

3 Day Weekends

Everyone loves a 3 day week end but Memorial Day we must stop and remember why we have this holiday - to honor our soldier - present and past - ones who are still alive and ones who have given their lives for their countries. My life was touched this year by one of my cardmaking friends - whose husband was wounded in Afghanistan. Ty's fight to recover and the strength his families and friends and Ty have shown since he was wounded. God bless all our soldiers.
Today I got to make a couple cards - was very busy last week and then over the week end I had the fun of having both my daughters here at the same time - what a wonderful treat - and then a wonderful lunch on Sunday and shopping at a wonderful flower place.
My card today is based on the sketch at Mojo Monday. This is my first time to participate in the sketch challenge - I look every week at the sketch but have never gotten to it.
Patterned Paper - Making Memories - Chloe's Closet
Flower - Making Memories - Chloe's Closet
Brads - Paper Studio
Stamp - Stampabilities - colored with Copics
Cardstock - Bazzill
Everyone have a wonderful evening. Thank goodness for short work weeks.

Wowsers

I took my picture outdoors today - WOWSERS - it does make a difference - it was morning so no good light in the back of my house inside for taking a picture. I spent the day shopping with a friend - we had a good day of shopping. I even found some shoes that look lots better than my shower sandals to wear in the office that fits around my hurt toe.

Today's card is based on the sketch at Card Patterns (Sketch 15) Fun sketch - I love layers - but this was a little out of my comfort zone because I just built my card on top of the black Bo Bunny dot paper - normally I would have put a patterned paper down and then started to build the card. I like how it turns out.
Stamp - Hero Arts - colored with Copics
Making Memories patterned paper
Ribbon was from the ribbon jar - I decided I wanted a POP of color on the card - thus the green ribbon - I think the black polka dot grosgrain anchors it very well.
Pink cardstock was a scrap on the table - Apron Strings border punch by Fiskars

Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Caution - another retirement card

Whew - Tuesday is done - had to do a small presentation today and of course there were lots more people than I had thought would be there - but it is done - tomorrow - I am going to go to work for a little while and then spend the remainder of the day with a friend - I am sure we can find some trouble to get into.
Quick post tonight - way too much on TV to watch - Idol, Dancing and the Brewers are playing. I really should just go plant myself in front of the TV. Need to finish the inside of a couple cards.
The paper for this card is from Reminisce - it is race paper - but I think it works great for a retirement card - I have another piece for the final card which will be done at the end of next week. The left side of the inside is finished so that the office can sign it - we gave it to him today.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Marvelous Monday - Once Again

Well is any Monday - marvelous - only if you did not have to go to work - but I did - and got reminded I have a short presentation tomorrow - YIKES - completely forgot - so I hope I can make it worthwhile - I only have 10 minutes and I could talk about this for lots longer. But at least I know to wear some nicer clothes - of course - no matter what I wear - when you have to put shower sandals on your feet because your one foot is hurt - doesn't make any outfit look to pretty. Oh well. Could be worse.
A birthday coming up in the neighborhood - it is for the youngest girl in my backward family (backward meaning I always make their cards so they open backwards - the first time was an accident and now it has become a tradition.) The card design is based on the weekly sketch at Card Positioning Sketches. Every Sunday there is a new sketch.
Stamp - Hampton Art (she likes Princesses)
Colored with Copics
Paper - scraps - don't know who makes it anymore - I have almost used it all up
Bling - Darice
Stickles on some of her dress and on some parts of the patterned paper - every girl loves a little bling
Happy evening - Dancing With the Stars is on tonight - it may be the finale - WOW - plus the Brewers play tonight.

Time to Monkey Around with a Cupcake

How about that for a catchy title? I have been making a monkey card for a friend going through s rough stretch right now - so this week we decided to hide the monkey inside the card - I love this little cupcake stamp with the sentiment so wanted to used that. I know when she opens the card (which by the way - opens backwards) will make her smile. I notice I forgot to color the little monkey's tongue.
The card is based on the challenge at Taylored Expressions - Cupcake Challenge which is posted each Friday. She has the cutest cupcake s tamps - I secretly covet them.
Cupcake Stamp - Studio G
Monkey - Stampendous Changito
all colored with Copics
Paper - Doodlebug Designs
Rickrack trim - Wrights
Stickers - $1 store
Martha Stewart Border punch

Fallen Off the Face of the Earth

No creating here - gone for the week end and hurt my foot so dealing with that has stopped creating. I actually walked into the "studio" (she says - tongue in cheek) tonight. Nothing created but at least I made it in here and so far have not stubbed the foot.
I am sharing a couple cards I made - these were published in the the April issue of the digi magazine - Ready Set Create.
Making Memories paper found at Michael's
Chipboard bird - Maya Road - painted with acrylic paint and glitter sprinkled over the top
Prima Bling
and I am not looking for the other stuff - too much work on a bum foot.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.
Hug a friend today and tell them you love them.

Made it to Friday

Made it to Friday - yeah - pretty stressful time of the year in my little corner of the world at work - next week even crazier - I always survive - but always wonder if I will make it. Sometimes being able to create helps relieve some of the stress.

My card this week is based on the sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You.

All the elements but the ribbon are from a card kit I got at a site - and I can't find the site - I will update this info when I find the name. I know the papers, button and rubons are from Dreamstreet Papers. The chipboard is Basic Grey. The pearls are from Prima and the ribbon was a wonderful find in my ribbon jar. Had to take the wire out, tear off the brown back side because it was too stiff. This card is a little out of my comfort zone but I am pretty sure I like it. Now - how do I mail it - any suggestions.

Everyone have a wonderful evening - it is gorgeous in Wisconsin today - very warm but the week end is suppose to be cooler.

Who would have thought

that I would receive a 15 years of service pin for my present job. I was lucky enough to be able to stay home when my kids were small but life's circumstances took me back into the work force in the 90's and I am still there. I can be proud that I have grown as a person and as an employee in those 15 years. I have been given great opportunities for growth and trust by my supervisors - and am thankful for that. I have also made great friends along the way.
Tonight's card is a continuation of the monkey series for a very fun friend (I do hope she likes monkeys). It is based on the sketch from Card Positioning System. This is also based on the challenge at Card-A-Licious - challenge site with a new challenge each Tuesday. There challenge was pink and brown and scallops - I do believe I covered all the requirements.
Another Stampendous stamp
Stamped with Memento Ink and colored with Copics
Basic Grey paper
Sentiment stamps - Hero Arts
Everyone have a wonderful evening - heck it is almost bed time.

Seize the Cupcake

Seize the cupcake and run and eat it. They are pretty special - they are even being served at weddings instead of wedding cake - a young bride to be told me though the price was $2.50 per person compared to $3.00 per piece of wedding cake. Interesting - cookies were much less expensive. I like cookies - I would be more than happy to eat one at a wedding - how about you.

I have been blessed with wonderful neighbors and this is a birthday card for Amy. I have adopted her and her husband and the kids - heck - I see them more than my own kids. And I have instant grandchildren.

The card is based on the sketch on Taylored Expressions - she posts a new "cupcake challenge" each Friday. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the sketch.

Cupcake and sentiment stamp - Hero Arts CL158 ClearDesign: Cupcakes

Scalloped paper - Bazzill Basics

Paper - Kaiser Scrapbooking

Ribbon - Prima

Flowers - Prima

The cupcake is paper pieced.

The card was actually delivered a day early - can you believe it.

Queen Bee

Queen Bee - we have one in our family - she is my 90 year old Mom - and she goes by Bea - real name is Molly Beatrice - then there is my sister Bonnie Bee - my daughter Carrie Bea - and last but not least my great niece Elaina Bea. Needless to say I have a large collection of Bee stuff - you may see more in my Mother Day cards.
This card is based on two challenges - the first one is to create a Mother's Day card on Creative Corner. The card is based on the sketch at Card Patterns - CPS #13.
The card is made with paper from Cosmo Cricket - Girl Friday. The dimensional chipboard is also from the same line. I used my Fiskars border punch and Stickles on the Bees. I inked the edge of the chipboard.
Everyone enjoy the remainder of your day - I need to get outside and enjoy some sunshine - need to see how the weeds are growing in my flower garden.
